America 250 and my thoughts on life in America
I know the popular thing (if you watch the news and look at much social media) is to hate on America. We are pretty polarized as a nation. I get that. But, I've seen enough of the world to know that this is still the best place to live on earth.
I've tried to think of a better country to live in and while there may be places I'd enjoy hanging out in for an extended vacation, none of them have ever made me think of renouncing my citizenship.
And that's the thing I don't understand. If a person absolutely hates the country they live in and what it stands for why stay? If I felt that way I'd just leave.
Now, the one thing I've avoided doing that has probably saved my sanity is separating "policy" from the "person." There isn't a single President I've ever hated. Yes, I've disliked some of the things they've said and some of the policies they've advocated. In my opinion they are all pretty narcissistic. (If you are trying to be the leader of the free world, you probably think pretty highly of yourself.) But I'd play a round of golf or hoist a beer with any of the recent presidents if I was given the chance.
That's my take on America 250. I'm glad to be here and I'm not ashamed to say it.
Until next time, take care...
