The joy of sleeping in

On a recent trip to the Oregon coast I rediscovered the joy of sleeping in. I spent my whole career getting up early. And when I mean early I mean 4:00 am every morning for over 40 years. Even on weekends I woke up super early. My internal alarm clock wouldn't be ignored.

I think sometimes life has a way of creeping up on you. I'm sort of an anxious person to begin with. I tend to internalize a lot of stress, which is never a very healthy thing. And the day we left on our little vacation, the last place I wanted to go was on a trip. I just felt super tired, foggy and just not good in general.

When we finally got to the hotel it was late. We looked at the sunset from our balcony and went to bed. I woke up the next morning at 11:30 am. I had slept almost 13 hours. Then the next day I slept in - 12 hours! The next day 10.5 hours. I never sleep in. But apparently, my body was exhausted.

I feel all back to normal now. I'm sleeping for a full 8 hours or more a night. Apparently, sleep is pretty important. It's hard to believe how much better I feel. Just from getting a little more sleep.

Until next time... take care.
